On Windows 10 and earlier, users may not be able to preview image files with extension. The viewer uses the GNU libheic library to achieve image decompression. Windows will also show thumbnails of HEIC images in File Explorer. You can now open HEIC files like any other image-just double-click them and they’ll open in the Windows Photo Viewer.
